Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Pickwickian syndrome - The Pickwickian syndrome, also known as obesity hypoventilation syndrome, is the combination of severe obesity, suffering from obstructive sleep apnea causing hypoxia and hypercapnia resulting in marked daytime somnolence. Although it is an eponym, it is not named after the doctor who first described it (as commonly happens) but after a literary character by Charles Dickens.

Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS) - Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome ("UARS") is a condition in which patients complain about excessive daytime sleepiness and there are symptoms of airway resistance. However, patients do not meet the criteria for sleep apnea and they do not show reduction in oxygen levels in the blood.

Non-24-hour sleep-wake syndrome - Non-24-hour sleep-wake syndrome, also termed non-24-hour circadian rhythm disorder or hypernychthemeral syndrome, is a sleep disorder in which a person's internal clock runs longer than 24 hours. The person's body essentially insists that the day is longer than 24 hours, which may not allow socially accepted sleeping patterns and make it difficult for the sufferer to sleep at "normal times.

Sleep Apnea Web Ring - The Sleep Apnea Web Ring is a web ring designed to help Sleep Apnea patients locate related resources on the Internet. It is operated by the Apnea Board.
